Terms of Use

Effective date: October 2, 2026

1. Operator and service

MichiganVOB is operated by Triangle Technologies, LLC, a veteran-owned Michigan company. MichiganVOB is a statewide directory created to help people discover and support veteran-owned businesses throughout Michigan.

MichiganVOB is not affiliated with or endorsed by any state or federal government agency.

MichiganVOB is a private directory, not a government certification or verification program. A listing, approval, claimed label or veteran-owned designation is not a government certification, endorsement, licensing determination or guarantee of a business.

These Terms are effective as of the date shown above.

2. Acceptance and eligibility

These Terms govern your use of MichiganVOB. By accepting them in a submission or claim workflow, you agree to them. Your other use of the service is subject to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law and adequate notice. If you do not agree, do not submit or claim a business or otherwise use the service in a way requiring agreement.

You must be at least 18 years old to submit or claim a business. You must be the business owner or have authority to act for the business. If acting for an organization, you represent that you have authority to make the submission and grant the permissions described here. The age requirement is a condition of participation, not a statement that the site verifies age.

A business does not agree to these Terms merely because MichiganVOB adds information about it from public sources. We do not treat imported listings as evidence of the business's consent or the acceptance of these Terms.

3. Free listings and sources

The current business listing and claim processes are free. No purchase is required to submit a business or request a claim. Submission does not guarantee publication, placement, traffic, referrals or business results.

Listings may come from authorized user submissions or publicly available business information, including business websites and public directories or program records. Public-source review is different from a business submitting information and accepting these Terms.

Publicly available material remains subject to applicable law and the rights of its owners. Its availability does not grant an unlimited license to use it.

4. Business submissions and review

Submit complete, truthful and current information using Add Business. The workflow requests business and private contact details, veteran-ownership attestation, Terms/Privacy acknowledgement, Google reCAPTCHA and optional permitted business images.

Submissions are saved for administrator review and are not automatically published. Private management access for a submitted record is not publication approval or an approved ownership claim. We may request clarification and review, edit, correct, reject, unpublish or remove a record. Some updates to published listings remain pending until reviewed.

Do not submit a duplicate listing to resolve a claim, correction or access problem. Use the claim or Contact process instead.

5. Claims and listing control

To claim an eligible existing listing, sign in through the site's Clerk authentication system and submit the claim form. Your claim email must match a verified email address on that account. You must identify yourself, describe your relationship and role, certify authority and acknowledge the Terms and Privacy Policy. Google reCAPTCHA is required.

A successful claim is PENDING_REVIEW. It does not automatically grant ownership or listing-management rights. Administrator approval is a separate decision. A verified email, successful CAPTCHA or claim receipt alone does not establish authority to act for a business.

Approval authorizes directory listing control; it does not transfer legal ownership of the business or certify military service, veteran ownership or government-program eligibility. Claims may be rejected, and directory access may later be suspended or revoked for unauthorized use, inaccurate information, disputes or other legitimate service or security reasons.

6. Accuracy and veteran-status representations

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you submit or manage and must have a truthful basis for statements about veteran ownership and your authority. Do not claim military service, veteran ownership, service-disabled status, certification, licensing or affiliation that is false or misleading. Notify us through Contact when important information becomes inaccurate.

The current free listing and claim workflows do not independently verify military-service records. Veteran-owned descriptions may rely on submitter attestations, business-published statements or identified public sources. Some sources may describe third-party recognition; that is not certification by MichiganVOB.

Users should independently confirm a business's qualifications, licensing, availability, ownership representations and suitability before relying on a listing or making a transaction. MichiganVOB is not a party to transactions between visitors and listed businesses.

7. Accounts and management credentials

Keep account information current and protect your sign-in methods. Do not share an account, impersonate another person or use another person's credentials without authorization. Contact us promptly about suspected unauthorized listing access. Account authentication is provided through Clerk; its applicable terms and privacy practices also apply.

Where issued, private listing-management links and management sessions are credentials. Keep them confidential, do not post or forward them publicly, and use them only for records you are authorized to manage. Credentials may expire or be invalidated and do not bypass publication review. Current private submission-management links have a configured 90-day lifetime; related sessions do not outlast the underlying credential.

MichiganVOB may require appropriate verification before restoring access, correcting an ownership relationship or acting on an access-related request.

8. Submitted content and permission

You retain your rights in your logos, photographs, descriptions and other submitted content. You represent that you own the content or have the permissions needed to submit it and grant the limited license below, including any necessary permission concerning people shown in images. Do not submit infringing, misleading or unauthorized material.

You grant Triangle Technologies, LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host, store, reproduce, format, resize, display and use submitted business information and content to operate MichiganVOB and reasonably promote the directory and its listings, including directory previews and related promotional posts. We may allow service providers to process the content only as needed for these purposes. This permission does not transfer ownership or authorize unrelated resale of your content.

The permission lasts while the content is reasonably needed for those purposes, subject to correction/removal requests and the retention practices in the Privacy Policy. Removal may not recall copies already distributed in reasonable promotion or immediately erase restricted administrative records and backups. Information collected from public sources is not automatically covered by this user-submission license.

9. Sensitive information

MichiganVOB does not request DD214s, disability records, Social Security numbers or sensitive military or personal documentation through its current free listing or claim workflows.

Do not put military, identity, medical, financial or similarly sensitive records in descriptions, claim explanations, uploaded images or Contact messages. Free-text fields and images can contain sensitive material; this instruction is not a promise that submitting it is technically impossible. Only use a future sensitive-document process if MichiganVOB specifically authorizes and provides that process.

10. Prohibited conduct

Ordinary lawful browsing and linking to public directory pages are not prohibited by these rules.

  • Submitting false information, fraudulent claims, impersonation, misleading veteran-status statements or content you have no right to use.
  • Harassment, threats, unlawful discrimination, defamatory material, malicious files or other unlawful content or activity.
  • Attempting unauthorized access, exposing private management credentials, harvesting non-public contact information or interfering with security, authentication or review controls.
  • Circumventing CAPTCHA, rate limits or access restrictions; abusive automated submissions; or activity that overloads or disrupts the service.
  • Using directory branding or a listing to imply government endorsement, MichiganVOB certification or another affiliation that does not exist.

11. Directory intellectual property

MichiganVOB's original branding, design, software and protectable directory compilation belong to Triangle Technologies, LLC or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer those rights. Business facts, third-party marks and submitted content remain subject to their respective rights.

You may use the public directory for lawful business discovery. Do not falsely claim ownership of our branding or use it to imply endorsement.

12. Third-party links and services

The service uses third-party authentication, human-verification, email, hosting, storage and other resources described in the Privacy Policy. Their services may be subject to separate terms. We do not control every aspect of their availability or practices.

Links to business websites, social profiles, government resources and other external sites are provided for convenience. We do not endorse or guarantee their content, products, security or privacy practices. Dealings with those parties are your responsibility.

13. Corrections, removals and complaints

Use the Contact page for corrections, listing removal, claim help, privacy requests or content-rights complaints. Identify the relevant listing and explain the request without supplying sensitive records or passwords. We may reasonably verify your authority before making an ownership-related change or disclosing non-public information.

Unpublishing removes a record from public directory access but does not necessarily erase its administrative history, related claim records, email copies, logs or backups. External search engines, caches and previously distributed copies may update on their own schedules. See the Privacy Policy for retention limitations.

14. Suspension, termination and service changes

We may restrict access, suspend management rights, reject a claim or listing, or remove or unpublish content for violations, fraud, ownership disputes, legal requirements, security concerns or legitimate directory administration. You may stop using the service and request appropriate account or listing assistance through Contact.

We may change, interrupt or discontinue features or the service. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, timely delivery of email or a particular review time. Obligations that reasonably need to continue, including rights concerning already submitted content, liability provisions and required record retention, survive discontinuation to the extent applicable.

15. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, the directory and its content are provided as is and as available, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, continuous availability or freedom from errors.

No directory entry or claim approval is a recommendation, background check, government certification or guarantee of quality, safety, military status, business performance or regulatory eligibility. Nothing here limits warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Triangle Technologies, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses arising from use of or inability to use the directory, reliance on listing information, third-party services or dealings with a listed business, including lost profits, business opportunities or data.

This provision does not exclude liability or remedies that applicable law does not permit to be excluded, including applicable protections concerning fraud, intentional misconduct or other non-waivable rights. No numerical cap on direct damages is imposed by these Terms.

17. Limited indemnification for submitters

To the extent permitted by law, a business submitter or claimant agrees to reimburse Triangle Technologies, LLC for reasonable losses and legal costs resulting from a third-party claim caused by that submitter's or claimant's fraudulent representations, knowing unlawful misuse of the service, or submitted content that infringes another person's rights.

This provision does not require reimbursement for the operator's own wrongdoing or create an obligation prohibited by law. It is not an indemnification obligation for visitors merely browsing the directory.

18. Michigan law, disputes and general provisions

Michigan law governs these Terms, without using conflict-of-law rules to displace applicable mandatory protections. Unless applicable law requires another forum, disputes under these Terms may be brought in Michigan state or federal courts with jurisdiction over the parties and dispute. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive class actions.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent lawful. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and any expressly applicable, separately agreed terms govern use of the service; the Privacy Policy explains information practices and does not eliminate statutory privacy rights.

19. Changes and contact

When approved updates become effective, we will post the revised Terms and their effective date. Additional notice or acceptance will be provided where required by law. Updates do not retroactively establish consent for public-source businesses or rewrite earlier acceptance records.

For questions or requests, contact MichiganVOB, operated by Triangle Technologies, LLC, through the Contact page at /contact.
